Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones

Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones. That’s a crisp waffle cone dipped in chocolate, rolled in nuts or sprinkles then filled with your favourite ice cream. These cones are incredibly fun to make and eat.

Course: Baking, Dessert
Cuisine: Worldwide
Servings: 10 cones

Ingredients

  • 200 g/ 7oz chocolate (I like dark chocolate - 70%)
  • 10 waffle cones

Toppings of choice:

  • Finely chopped pistachio nuts
  • Finely chopped hazelnuts
  • Dessicated (shredded) coconut
  • Hundreds & Thousands
  • Shaped sugar sprinkles

Instructions

  • Find 10 cups/ glasses deep enough to hold an individual ice cream cone (once dipped and rolled the cones need to set without touching a surface, the sides of the glass or other cone)
  • Spread the sprinkles, nuts and coconut onto small, shallow plates
  • Finely chop the chocolate, Put ⅔ of the chocolate into a narrow bowl and melt in a microwave: cook on full power, stirring every 30 seconds, until just melted. Add the remaining chocolate and stir until smooth
  • Working quickly, dip a cone into the chocolate to create a layer of chocolate around the top of the cone. Roll the cone in the desired topping and stand in a glass to set
  • Repeat with the remaining cones
  • Once set, store the cones in an airtight container for up to 3 days

Notes

I have not included weights for the toppings as it really depends on the size of your cones, how deep you dip the cones into the chocolate & how many varieties you choose to create in one go. 200g chocolate will cover approximately 10 regular sized cones.
