If you need a new twist on your usual cocktail repertoire try a Blackcurrant Mojito. It’s fun. It’s fruity. It’s akin to a classic Mojito but with attitude… and a hint of vanilla
What’s that well-known saying – if something isn’t broken don’t try to fix it? Would you mind terribly if I ignored the rulebook, just for today, and tampered with the classic Mojito cocktail ever so slightly? I’m hoping, and assuming, you won’t mind at all once I’ve introduced you to this snazzy little Blackcurrant Mojito of mine.
This cocktail has a lot in common with a classic Mojito – white rum, lime and mint. However… it has been supercharged with my Blackcurrant Cordial, which, you’ll be thrilled to discover, comes with a neat little hit of vanilla added to the mix. It’s these blackcurrant and vanilla flavours that really set this Blackcurrant Mojito on fire. Think fresh, juicy & slightly tart summertime flavours all bundled up with the sweet, intoxicating undertones of vanilla.
If you’re after a long, chilled summer drink to impress yourself (why not) or some guests, look no further. This Blackcurrant Mojito is abundantly fruity and slightly sparkling. The combination of blackcurrant, lime, mint and vanilla is sure to impress.
And just look at that radiant colour along with those bright, cheerful fresh mint sprigs. This cocktail really is the epitome of summertime – in a glass and with alcohol (bonus).
At the risk of writing my shortest post ever, what more can I say? It’s time to re-write the rulebook, put aside your usual Mojito recipe and give this Blackcurrant Mojito a try. It may just make your cocktail loving heart beat a little faster.

I can’t wait to try this… it does sound perfect. I bet the vanilla adds such a fun depth to the flavor! Looking forward to sipping it on Saturday!
Jane Saunders says
You are spot on, Michele. That vanilla does add a certain something to the mix. Saturday better hurry up.
Tina Marie says
Oh yes! It’s going to be Mojito time at my house. These look amazing!
Jane Saunders says
Once you have the blackcurrant cordial made up it would be a crime not to use it all – Mojito away 😉
Meghan | Fox and Briar says
These are just gorgeous Jane! I think it is perfectly reasonable for you to mess with the mojito when you are adding such delicious flavors and colors! Love the glasses they are in too!
Jane Saunders says
ah, thanks Meghan. I can’t guarantee that I won’t mess again next summer – I like variety.
Lynn | The Road to Honey says
Yes, Yes, Yes. . . look at that bright vibrant color. It’s completely and utterly mesmerizing. But guess what. I don’t think I have every seen black currants in my area. Sooooo. . .wanna trade-sies black currents for fiddleheads? 😉
Jane Saunders says
Definitely – let’s trade. But really – absolutely no blackcurrants? My heart is breaking for you. Can you buy tinned or frozen? Failing that get yourself some blackcurrant squash/ cordial/ syrup and drop in a vanilla pod.
Michelle @ Giraffes Can Bake says
I am totally in awe of this twist on the Mojito – those flavours and colours are just incredible! I have GOT to try this. Gonna have to keep an eye out for some blackcurrants – they’re not something I see around that oten forsome reason!
Jane Saunders says
Oh no! You need to get yourself to a PYO farm or a farmshop with a freezer section – several around us stock frozen blackcurrants all year long. Good luck on your blackcurrant quest, Michelle…
